Biography

I began scuba diving in the early 1980’s on the Hawaiian Island of Maui on a summer vacation. What started as a fun vacation activity soon turned into a passion. After my open water certification and a few dozen open water dives I began to lose interest and didn’t dive much between 1983 and 1993.

After taking a open water refresher course in 1994 that I really started to pile on the dives again! In a little over 6 months, I had accumulated my first 100 dives, and then came my advanced certification, then rescue certification and finally I achieved my Divemaster rating in 1996. Working every week and weekend as a PADI Divemaster for one of the largest specialty scuba dive centers in the world,  I had amassed nearly 750 dives in four (4) countries with a majority of those dives completed locally here in Southern California.

After working nearly ten (10) years as a Divemaster, I was ready for a new challenge and the title of Scuba Instructor was calling my name.  On April 23rd, 2005 I officially became a PADI open water scuba instructor (OWSI) and later that year, I went on to earn my Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT) rating. Now certified to teach more than eleven specialties, I take great pride in teaching new student divers how to dive safely and explore one of nature’s most beautiful creations, our ocean and the aquatic environment.

After certifying my first one-hundred (100) student divers, my goal is to continue working part-time as an instructor while continuing my education as a PADI scuba instructor.
